Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said suggested to introduce a new law to hold companies criminally liable for safety failures resulting in loss of life.

Where civil law is concerned, it is developed well enough to make such companies vicariously liable in general.

But to consider making companies such companies criminally liable also, is it a knee-jerk reaction due to the recent incident at the East-West Highway near Tasik Banding, Gerik or is it a law reform long overdue in our country? https://lnkd.in/eKXa7Z9y
